Goodbye 2016 Hello 2017 Review 2016

Well, I’m sure a lot of people are pleased to see the back of 2016. It was an awful year of celebrity deaths with media and social media full of people expressing their sadness. It was sad to see so many great actors and singers pass away with many being a complete shock.

I must admit, that hearing George Michael had passed away on Christmas Day was horrible. Wham were the first band that I had pinned up on my wall and spent many a Sunday afternoon signing along to their tracks

Review of 2016

I wanted to spend some time looking back over 2016 to review how it has gone for Willow Admin and it has been interesting. There have been many ups and a lot of downs.

Training and New Skills

It is important to keep learning and I have attended a few business workshops which have been interesting. As video and digital marketing, are becoming more important for businesses, I have attended a business workshop and joined up to some online webinars.

Although I have not yet taken the step to doing Facebook Live or Instagram stories yet…!

I have also set up my own newsletters using Mailchimp and working out the topics to discuss each month. I am in the process of creating a package supporting clients who wish to use Mailchimp and keep their subscribers informed with newsletters.

Even though it is time-consuming, I do like social media and I joined Instagram setting up both a personal and business account. I wanted to find out about Instagram and was not sure how it will benefit me as a service. I guess it is like any social media platform and while it is probably not going to be the main platform to focus on, I do like it.

Clients and Work

I have enjoyed with a variety of clients, dealing with both ad-hoc and tasks and projects, learning new software and working on my technical skills.

Reviewing my year has enabled me to look at what tasks I have enjoyed doing, what I have not enjoyed doing and the types of customers that I would like to work with. This is an area that I am going to be focusing on this year.

I haven’t enjoyed the feast and famine of the business and so I have been looking at packages that will appeal to my ideal customer and that I enjoy doing.

Plans for 2017

This time last year, I had just signed up to the Female Entrepreneur Association. A year on, I have now decided to leave the group. The group itself is great and I made some good connections and thought the support was good, however it was proving a costly expense which I felt I could no longer justify.

There are many things that I want to look at in 2017:

  • Developing my business
  • Working on packages
  • Adding content to my website
  • Developing my skills
  • Focusing on my niche and ideal customers
  • Maintaining a good work-life balance

I am interested to see what 2017 has in store for me and my business.
